Bodbog Debuts at the LEC Global Licensing Expo: It’s About More Than Nostalgia

On July 26, the 2019 Global Licensing Expo China (LEC) came to a successful close at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center. As a premier global event for the licensing industry, LEC brought together 800 diverse, world-renowned IP brands to connect with the licensing community and unlock the vast potential of China’s booming licensing market.

At this exhibition, BOBDOG Bodbog made its debut with a “birth” design and invited Ms. Tomomi Sawazaki, a Japanese IP illustrator, to join the event.

Thirty Years of BOBDOG

In 1988, the BOBDOG cartoon IP was born in Japan; in 1991, it was introduced to Taiwan, China; in 1994, it officially entered the Chinese mainland market; in 2009, Bodbog (China) Co., Ltd. acquired the global copyright and trademark rights of the IP; in 2013, the BOBDOG animated series was broadcast on CCTV as well as in Taiwan, China, Thailand, and other regions; in 2017, the company further transformed its core business into a brand management company focused on IP licensing; in 2018, Bodbog celebrated its 30th anniversary, with the “Bodbog 30th Anniversary Touring Exhibition” being held successively in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and other cities.

Focusing on Brand Licensing Business

1988 When it comes to Bodbog, we think of its cute designs and stationery, children’s clothing, and shoes that were popular among the post-80s and post-90s generations. Today, Bodbog offers licensed product categories such as children’s clothing and shoes, underwear and cotton products, baby diapers, children’s beds and bedding, home and travel items, and baby care products. In addition, there are also licensed categories and cross-border collaboration opportunities in toys and educational products, plush derivatives, dining car seats, maternal and infant products, daily necessities, small household appliances, and theme parks that are yet to be developed.

Stick to originality, empower the brand

Successful commercial transformation has also established Bodbog’s unique brand awareness. Little do people know that behind this success lies the brand’s unwavering commitment to original IP. Over the past 30 years, Bodbog (China) Co., Ltd. has consistently collaborated with Ms. Takako Nagai, the original creator of the IP, and Ms. Tomomi Sawazaki, the inheriting illustrator, providing a continuous stream of IP support for Bodbog’s industry and licensing business. Bodbog (China) Co., Ltd. is eager to partner with more outstanding licensors to build a “Bodbog”-branded commercial empire in the mother-and-baby and children’s products sector.
